Dietary Fibre refers to the edible parts of plants or carbohydrates that cannot be digested. Fiber is in all plant foods, including fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts, seeds, and legumes. You can also find a form of fiber called chitin in the shells of crustaceans such as crab, lobster, and shrimp

For an average adult (from 18 to 50 years old), the best way to consume the recommended 25-38 grams of fibre per day is through a healthy diet, but that may not always be possible. If you can’t reach the recommended daily amount of fibre through food alone, taking fibre supplements or adding them to foods and beverages is one way to fill the gap.

Fibre can be divided into soluble and insoluble fibre depending on how they dissolve in water.

  • Soluble fibre blends with water in the gut, forming a gel-like substance. It slows digestion, helps you absorb nutrients from food, it can reduce blood sugar spikes, and has various metabolic health benefits. Most plant foods contain some of each kind of fiber. Foods containing high levels of soluble fiber include dried beans, oats, oat bran, rice bran, barley, citrus fruits, apples, strawberries, peas, and potatoes. Soluble fibre’s also include gums, pectins, psyllium, beta-glucans and others.
  • Insoluble fibre does not blend with the water and passes through the digestive system mostly intact. It functions mostly as a "bulking" agent and may help speed the passage of food and waste through your gut. Foods high in insoluble fiber include wheat bran, whole grains, cereals, seeds, and the skins of many fruits and vegetables. Insoluble fibers also include lignin and cellulose.
  • Herbal Bulk provides psyllium husks along with other natural water-soluble fibers combined with harmonious nutrients required for proper elimination of contaminates from the colon and the gastrointestinal tract.
  • Genestra’s researcher know that inflammatory digestive diseases is due to stress, bacterial, parasitic and viral infections, a diet high in refined sugar and allergenic foods and developed Herbal Bulk to support the body to eliminate these unhealthy visitors. Herbal Bulk is in a convenient powder format to mix with liquid for optimal absorption.
  • Psyllium, Oat bran and rice bran are soluble fibres that slow down digestion and improve nutrient absorption. They also provide prebiotics to support digestive flora.
  • Apple Pectin and Guar Gum are fibres that friendly gut bacteria are able to digest (fermented) and use as fuel. This increases the number and balance of friendly gut bacteria, which also produce short-chain fatty acids with powerful health benefits
